windRose has been originally developed for Palm OS and other mobile systems running the IBM J9 Java Virtual Machine; it has been reported to run on other platforms and there's ongoing work to improve its portability.
windRose is a free and open source project, which means that users can actively participate in testing and developing features. If you own a phone where windRose doesn't run, or you have ideas about new features, please let us know by means of the user's forum or the issue tracker.
Geotagged notes
Among other features, windRose is able to take "geotagged notes". Whenever you want, you just select a menu and you can enter a note and some tags. The note is recorded together with the current position. Later, you can export the geotagged note for further processing (for instance, importing it into Google Earth).
Geotagged notes can be useful in many circumstances: to record a bird observation, to recall a place that you would like to photo or to visit in future, etc..
The functional area of geotagged notes is under active development and future versions of windRose will allow even more flexibility.
